The local charity, Brighton & Hove Impetus are one of the leading organisations working to reduce isolation and improve the wellbeing of people in Brighton and Hove.

Brighton & Hove Impetus were so proud to have been chosen for the last laugh with Charity Chuckle which has been such a defining part of the third sector in the city for the last six years.

Jo Ivens, CEO at Brighton & Hove Impetus, explained: “We had a superb night, especially as local comedian Zoe Lyons is one of our Neighbourhood Care Scheme volunteers. Charity Chuckle has raised a fantastic amount of money for local organisations and we were delighted and a bit sad to be the last organisation to be chosen. The impact that being involved in events such as these makes a huge difference to our staff, volunteers and our clients so we are extremely grateful for their support.”

Impetus support some of the city’s most marginalised people including older people, adults with physical and learning disabilities and people with mental health problems by providing opportunities to connect to the local community through befriending, social groups, volunteering, and advocacy.

One of Impetus’s 68-year-old clients said: “Someone of my own age to chat to in my own home makes my house feel lived in. I look forward to her visits and If I’m feeling low she always cheers me up. She is better than just a friend, more like a loving relation.”

Charity Chuckle has raised over £18,000 in the last 6 years for local charities.
